A motorist who fled when MPs tried to stop him Thursday in Dulzura led a winding 45-minute chase that ended with his arrest at a church in South Bay.
The chase began around 10:30 a.m. when the man – the subject of a felony arrest warrant – refused to surrender in the 14000 block of National Highway 94 in southeastern San Diego County, according to sheriff officials.
He slowly fled west in a black Nissan Pathfinder in eastern Chula Vista, where he crisscrossed various neighborhoods on the city streets and briefly passed through stretches of the SR-125 and the Interstate 805, said Lt. Chris Galve.
At around 11:15 a.m., he pulled up to a church on Fourth Avenue and Oxford Street, jumped and fled. The deputies pursued him and quickly took him into police custody without further incident.
His name was not immediately available.
