An estimated $60,000 carnival ride stolen from the Moraine company; Suspect still at large
MORAIN — UPDATE @ 10:30 p.m.: Moraine Police, acting on a tip, found the carnival ride which was stolen from a business in Moraine on Sunday evening.
Police are still looking for a suspect – and are investigating two other theft reports from Monday involving the same truck that got away with the $60,000 carnival, Sgt. Andrew Parish told News Center 7’s Molly Koweek on Tuesday night.

Police found the carnival ride in a parking lot in Xenia and Bowen, Sgt. said the parish. She and a $4,000 Toro zero-turn mower were stolen from the Mandalay Banquet and Event Center in Moraine. The mower belongs to the banquet center.
“Anything stolen from our property, we kind of feel responsible for, even if it’s not ours,” banquet center owner Matt McConnell told Koweek. “We’re just happy the ride was found and hopefully they can find the people who did.”
Monday’s other theft reports relate to two van trucks that went missing from Watson’s on Dryden Road and the vandalism of multiple vehicles in Orbit.

“I’ve seen a lot in over 20 years,” he said. “People will steal anything.”

The same truck showed up again Monday morning. The suspect gets out of the truck and looks at the golf carts on the property.
Authorities say the suspect also took a zero-turn mower.
According to a police report, a man who worked at the banquet center told officers that on Sunday, just before 8 p.m., a white and tan Chevrolet Silverado pulled into the parking lot and stole a carnival ride that was parked at west of the building.

The employee told police the carnival ride, described as a “Rocket Ship Carnival Ride”, was attached to a trailer waiting to be picked up by rental company Bluegrass Rides and Inflatables.
Police contacted a man who said he worked for Bluegrass Rides and Inflatables, who estimated the value of the ride at around $60,000.
Moraine Police said they later located the carnival ride in Dayton. The mower has not been located.
Police have not identified any suspects or taken them into custody.
